Mod applications are now open! Feel free to submit your application according to the guidelines below. APPLICATIONS WILL CLOSE THURSDAY, 12/10.

As you all know we're stretched a little thin and it's time to add new mods. We're not looking for a set amount, just people we feel can step up to the task based on their application. After recent incidents, we've done much to tighten the ranks and make new rules for the community and for ourselves.

First, new mods will be modding under a bb account for a period of time during training. They will need to pick an avatar, but not announce themselves right away. During training, the bb account will be used for posts so screening can be put on. Once we feel the trainees are ready to become a full mod, they will then either choose to go namie or make a sock and be given access to mummysquid.

New mods will be contacted via pm if they have been accepted and then must follow the rules in the pm, as we do not, under any circumstances give passwords through pm on dw.

Now for a bit about the person we're looking for: must be able to commit to being around for at least a few hours a day, and we are looking specifically for people in understaffed/high demand time zones - that is, from around 10am EST to 8pm EST (that is also for example, 3:00pm - 12:00am NZDT, 1:00am -10:00am AEDT, 11:00pm -8:00am CST, 6:00pm - 4:00am GST, 2:00pm - 1:00 am BST) You should be able to express yourself well in writing, and especially if secret-modding under mummysquid, retain the ability to be polite and professional no matter what anon throws at you.

You will be criticized no matter how good a job you do (and in fact if you've done an excellent job, deleting crap the instant it crops up, you may be yelled at for turning on screening when "nothing happened"!), so you either need to be 100% beyond anon criticism, or at least mostly above it with the ability to step back and let us know when it's getting to you and take breaks accordingly. We're the janitors in a community with no interest in cleaning up after itself, so we are going to miss stuff and take the flak for it.

It's also important that new mods know and understand that we work by consensus: ANY action beyond deleting/screening/banning that can at all wait must be discussed with everyone else first, with exceptions made for emergencies. So, being a team player is very much appreciated!

Interested? We will be accepting namies/socks that would like to mod openly and also namies/socks that would prefer to mod under a designated sock -- if you stick to deletions and let mummysquid handle policy/notes, you will probably notface much scrutiny.

A pretty much unspoken exception but for the sake of clarity/worry-easing: we won't be accepting someone known to be untrustworthy/unbearable. We want someone we can reasonably trust. Roughly we'd say you will need to have been around for at least a month, been relatively nice/nontrolly, and demonstrated good resistance against anon's hate. If in doubt though, apply anyway! It can't hurt.

All applications are screened; comments and questions will be unscreened and addressed. We hope to have the new mods selected and announced in a week, so get your applications in now so we can get this party started!

A few things you might want to put in your application:
Describe your potential modding style, how often you would be around, what you would do in case of a troll attack/criticism of your modding, how you would handle a problem with another mod, how long you've been coming to anon, and what you like about it. write what you think would show that you'd be a good pick.
